Fairfield, IL - The Courthouse Square will be the site of the Third Annual
Fairfield Pumpkin Festival. Food, Games, Contests, Entertainment & Crafts will highlight
the days events with many being free to the public. This is always a good event to bring the
whole family to with plenty to see & do for all ages from 11am to 10 pm. The entertainment

will be "The Brat Pack" and they will perform from 7-10pm.

Union County Colorfest Historic Home Tours
Jonesboro, IL - Visit 1850´s log barn, now Timber Ridge Inn, the fascinating
home kept in the family of Winstead Davie descendants for over 100 years, and the
home "where Lincoln stayed" on Main St., Anna. Kornthal Church, south of
Jonesboro will also be open, for viewing with no charge. Tickets for entire tour are available
for $10.00 at each of the homes, Historic St. Anne´s, or at the Lincoln-Douglas Center on
the Jonesboro Square.

West Frankfort, IL - The "Roasting of John Bradley" will take place
Tuesday, October 14th, 7:00 p.m. at the West Frankfort Elks Club. Tickets for the event are $25 each.
The owners of Rugged Cross BBQ in West Frankfort will also take part in the "grilling" by
serving up complete rib dinners for the event. A cash bar is also available at the club.

Herrin, IL - The Little Egypt Barbershop chorus will perform its annual
show, "HOW THE WEST WAS SUNG", November 1, 2008 at the Herrin Civic Center.
Matinee at 2:00 PM and evening performance at 7:00 PM. Following the evening performance,
there will be an "afterglow", with more singing and light refreshments. In addition to

Miss River to River Scholarship Pageant
City, IL - Winners will be crowned in the following divisions:

Caring for your Quilts
Carbondale, IL - Judy Schwender, Curator of Collections and Registrar at the
National Quilt Museum, Paducah, Kentucky, will talk about "Caring for your
Quilts," at the University Museum at Southern Illinois University from 1 - 2pm.
The event is free and open to the public. While you at the program,
see "The Quilts of Bessie Lutes" exhibit showcasing some 20 quilts
made by a Southern Illinois women and shared with the Museum by her
family; this exhibit closes October 19.
